With their hard steel box shape and edgy appearance the last thing you’d think of a shipping container is as ‘romantic’! But yes, testament to their ability to be transformed into almost anything, a developer has built a series of romantic holiday villas in Daylesford, Victoria out of shipping containers. Clifftop at Hepburn recently won the 2019 Stayz Holiday Home of the Year Award for one of these villas.
Let’s have a good look around this container holiday home and show you just why the Australian holiday company Stayz thinks this the most romantic spot outside of Europe.

It’s from the outside that the holiday home is most apparently made up of former shipping containers. Consisting of four European named rooms – Paris, Venice, Rome and Vienna, the shipping containers sit on stilts cantilevered over a ravine with a bubbling waterfall creating a relaxing natural setting.
Love starts within…
Inside the 50 m2 Paris villa that sleeps two, there’s a lounge with a 75 inch TV – a big one for those Netflix and chill moments – and even a Playstation. Chill out on the bison skin rug in front of the log fire or curl up with a good book on the infinity day bed which has a glass floor that overlooks the babbling brook beneath. The large floor to ceiling windows also celebrate the stunning views outside.
As one reviewer says, “The view from the windows/glass floor was amazing and the massage chair had heaps of different settings to suit different preferences. The location was also great as it was close to shops and restaurants (a few minutes drive) but far away enough to feel secluded, peaceful and away from the bustle of the town.”

Separate bedroom with a floating king bed, fireplace and comfy day couch to watch the world go by – not a lot of the world thanks to its pristine rural setting.
